Phooning with The PapaNonny Clan!

In the geocaching world, around our parts, my family is collectively known as "The PapaNonny Clan."  Local geocacher Walt Grogan dubbed us that awhile back, and it stuck.  He called us that because there are so many of us in our family that are always caching together.

So here's most of the PapaNonny Clan phooning over the weekend!

Caching with Mom & Dad

Last Saturday was going to be a beautiful weather day, and that made it a good day for geocaching.  Some friends of mine were hosting a geocaching lunch, so I called my parents and asked them if they'd like to go grab a couple of caches in the morning beforehand and then go to the lunch.

My parents are usually up for anything!

The first cache we hit was placed somewhere on this huge jungle gym.  Dad and I got lucky and found it in almost the first spot we looked.   I took the slide back down tho!

This park had a cute little rock area for the kids to climb on, so this big kid climbed up for a phooning photo op!

Mom & Dad chose to stay on the lower level...

We found some interesting containers ....

We also found a cache by a model airplane airfield....

If you look closely you can see the planes in the air....

This nice guy stopped and talked to us as he was leaving and let us check out his plane.  It's extremely light weight.  It was fun to sit and watch the planes do stunts and fly straight up in the air and then dive bomb back down.

We also visited some pretty locations today.  One cache was hidden by a sledding hill.  I never knew this hill was here but we'll be checking it out this winter.  I love to go sledding!

Look at the color of this tree....

I love these shots of the berries on this yew bush.  They kind of put me in the mood for Christmas!

My mom and dad have been together for about 60 years.

I think it's so cute that they still hold hands....

Come back tomorrow and I'll tell you about the geocaching lunch!    Also - don't forget that this is Fright Week with the CacheCrazy crew. Starting today there will be a week of Halloween fun, so stop by over there to see what's going on.  I'll have a special scary post of my own on Wednesday!

Thank you Ms. Bake-It and Shellbelle!

A couple of weeks ago I entered a give-away over at Ms. Bake-It's blog.  Don't go to her blog unless you want to leave hungry!  She makes the most delicious looking dishes and her photos of what she makes will cause you to drool all over your keyboard!  Visit her blog here:
http://msbake-it.blogspot.com/

Anyway, guess what??  I WON!!  Insert photos of me doing cartwheels here if I had of photo of me doing cartwheels.

My prize was a $ 40.00 gift card to Shellbelle's Etsy shop.  You have to visit Shellbelle's blog because she has such interesting things to say and show us, like World Oceans Day when she hosted an online beach party.  She had my full attention at the words OCEAN and BEACH - 2 of my favorite words.  Visit her blog here:
http://www.shellbellestikihut.com/

So I won my gift card and I skeedaddled over to Shellbelle's ETSY shop at:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/shellbellestikihut?ref=pr_shop_more

I immediately picked out a Driftshell heart.  And here it is.  It just arrived and I have to tell you, the photo's don't do it justice.  IT IS GORGEOUS!  I love it.

It is so finely crafted and sturdy.

And while I was browsing her store, I also purchsed this Driftshell photo frame.  Shellbelle makes these beauties with shells that she finds herself.  They are truly works of art!

Since I just got back from our annual "Girls Only" trip to Sanibel Island, I inserted a photo of us phooning on Cayo Costa Island.... You can read about "Phooning" here:  http://snugharborbay.blogspot.com/2011/03/do-you-phoon.html

Doesn't it look great?  Now I have to go buy a shelf for my front room so I can proudly display these 2 new beachy additions.

A heartfelt thanks to Ms. Bake-It and Shellbelle for my win.  You girls really made my day!

Do You Phoon?

Well, do you?  I do!  I had NO idea what it meant to PHOON until today.  It's fun, different and I believe we will phoon a lot more from now on.

From The Urban Dictionary  http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=phoon
(1) n. One who phoons. (2) v. To stand motionless on one foot, tilted forward at the waist, with one bent arm held in front and the other bent arm held behind.

We had an unexpected morning off, so we went and picked up my parents and ran out to do a little geocaching.  One of the geocaches required that we take a picture of us PHOONING.
This is me with my mom and dad.
And here's my husband, Lou.  He was a reluctant phooner and wouldn't do it at first, but we talked him into it.  I think he secretly enjoyed it, altho he won't admit it.

Visit this website to see other photo's of Phooners from around the globe:  http://www.phoons.com/

After we phooned, we did a couple more geocaches.  Here's my dad and Lou looking under this bridge.

Dad finally figured out where it was hidden.

We found 12 caches today and the last one was located in the parking lot of a bakery, so we HAD to go inside and pick up a little something to take home.  This will be dessert tonight:

This is called a Queen Victoria cake and it's filled with fresh strawberries and bananas.  Plus LOTS of whipped cream.  Doesn't that look yummy?
Next time you are out and you've got your camera, don't forget to take a shot of yourself PHOONING.  You might be the first in your neighborhood to do so!
