My Antique Booth Update

I have been really busy with the antique booths at Antiques et Cetera in Benton, Kentucky the past few months.  Yes, I said booths!  What started out as one booth a little over a year ago has blossomed into three separate booths.  Want to take a look?

This is the original booth.  2 weeks after we took this booth the small booth next to it opened up, so we combined them into one larger booth.  We built 4 sets of shelves backed with burlap, hung a banner and made money every month after the first month...

The second booth we opened was our "Mantiques" booth.  This one is more geared towards guy stuff and it's been doing really well.

Albums are a big hit as is bar ware...

Books, magazines and camping equipment...

Tools...

And lots of fishing equipment...

And then we got a third booth.  This one has more furniture in it, kitchen ware, beachy stuff, kids items and a Christmas section...

We have a lot of inventory across the 3 booths.  Furniture has been a slow mover in this area, which disappoints me to no end.  We really like finding and redoing furniture and I was hoping it would sell better.  So far we've sold more furniture out of our garage, so I may be rethinking the marketing of the furniture.  Any suggestions?

In the meantime, if you're in the western Kentucky area, visit us at Antiques et Cetera on Main street in Benton.

Estate Sale Finds 4-13-15

I know I'm supposed to be on lock down and getting some rest, but then, I've never been very good at following orders.  Ask my dad.  Especially when there were TWO church rummage sales this weekend just miles from my house.   So I compromised....  I slept late and had Chablis drive.   LOL!

Church rummage sales usually have really good prices and I got a few things.  Want to see?

2 nice Napa Valley crates that I'm going to paint and distress....

Chablis bought these cute reindeer and plans to sand them down and re-stain them....

This was a different crate but I loved the graphics and the sliding lid.  It's a super sturdy box and I'll probably re-sell it.  It has oodles of uses, don't you think?

I LOVE this hanging basket!  It is so awesome.  I'm gong to paint and distress this and sell it.   I almost want to keep it, that's how cool it is.   The Snow White pattern is vintage and has never been used.   A small skein of yarn....

2 really nice pieces of luggage.  The make up case is in really good condition except for a small stain in the upper tray....

And this train case is beautiful green leather with just a small slit on the leather on the bottom.  It has a working combination lock on it.  I've already cleaned them up and they look fab!

One small bag of silver for stamping, a tin filled with buttons, a cute cookie tin - love the blue colors - a new kitchen towel and this glass Skippy jar.  After I got the Skippy jar home and researched it, I found out that the lid isn't the original lid.  But that's ok, because I kind of like the mason jar lid that somebody substituted it with.

What did you like the best?   Did you find anything good this week?

Cribbage Board Key Holder

Last week Chablis was cleaning out her closet and pulled out a bunch of her old games.  One of them was this vintage cribbage board from the 1960's.  I have no idea why she had this in the first place as she doesn't even play cribbage.  The graphics are great...

All the original game pieces were tucked inside the little hidden compartment in the back.  It sat there staring me in the face and the wheels started turning....  First I attached a hanger so you can hang it on the wall....

Then I screwed in some hooks to hang keys from and I glued the original game pieces into the board....

And there you have it - a key holder for a lover of vintage games, especially Cribbage.  Won't this look awesome hanging on the wall?

And there's still a hidden compartment in the back - for love notes maybe??

Currently for sale in my Etsy Shop.

Estate Sale Finds 9-22-14

This week end we hit one estate sale and a couple of small garage sales.  I was happy with quite a few of the things we picked up.   Let's take a look....

Chablis picked up a brand new heavy duty kitchen whisk and Pyrex measuring cup.  I got a pretty recipe box, a bag full of wooden clothespins for craft projects and this utensil holder full of red silverware.  I have no idea what this type of silverware is called, so if you know, please tell me.

A bunch of old keys and locks for crafting....

My first Pyrex refrigerator bowl with lid and the set of 3 green bowls.  All are in excellent condition.

These awesome skeleton keys, again for crafting.  It also included a brass USPS lock box tag.  Pretty cool.

4 brass bells.
A martini shaker but it was missing the silver topper and instead had this old Tupperware lid attached on top.  But the graphics on it are awesome and so retro.  Inside the shaker were dozens of old swizzle sticks.  A lot of them are from Las Vegas....

A cute Accent tin - never saw one like that before.  And Louie found the extension shoe horn that he's keeping for himself....

A bacon press that I have an idea for.  I don't know if it will work but we'll see.  I'll let you know when I try it.  A hanging napkin holder, and more assorted tea tins.   Chablis thought she was getting these, but since I paid for them, looks like she is outta luck.  Too bad!

A brand new glue gun with glue sticks - you can never have too many glue guns, right?  Plus 2 more tins and a Chase Sanborn coffee tin.

Chablis found a brand new set of silverware for 5 bucks.  She added it to her "If I ever move out and get my own apartment" pile that is growing by leaps and bounds in our upstairs spare room....

I couldn't believe it when Chablis found this 6 cup Pyrex tea pot.  I found the 9 cup one over the summer.

Odds and ends for crafting like this nice pie tin, grater, 2 loaf pans and the Enamelware bowl....

I fell in love with this beautiful quilt.  I was at a garage sale and the man asked me if I wanted to see some furniture he had inside.  As we walked through the rooms he pointed out items like a dresser, a table, a television stand, a bed.  Well, I didn't need any of that, but this quilt was draped over the bed they wanted to sell.  As an afterthought I asked him if he'd like to sell the quilt.  He told me to ask his wife.  She agreed to sell and then went outside to find the matching pillow shams that were laying on a table.  I brought them home and washed them - not a spot or stain.  They are headed for the lake house....

Ok, here's my favorite find of the weekend - a vintage Wheary train case.  It's pale yellow with brown leather trim and handle....

The inside is red and not in too bad condition - not ripped, just a little discolored.  The best part was that it didn't smell at all - no musty, old odor at all.

The only thing missing is the key - darn.    Wheary Luggage was made in the 1930's-1950's.  I've already cleaned this up and it looks much better than what you see here.  Now I'm torn on what to do with this.  Keep it as is or re-cover it and put some new material or paper inside.  Keep it for myself or sell it?  I'm so confused!!!!!

What would you do with it?
