Last week The Outdoor Blogger Network awarded me the opportunity for a gear review on a Sauce Headwear headband. I was excited about this because we spend a lot of time outdoors in the cold weather, either geocaching, hiking, ice fishing or snow plowing. I have extremely thin hair and my head and ears are always cold, so I am forever looking for some kind of hat. The idea of a headband appealed to me for several reasons - first, I liked the idea of it's being light weight. Second, it's lined with a soft, moisture wicking layer for extra warmth. Third, they were darn cute!
I went to their website and I picked the totally rockin' Purple Pinwheel Headband. Sauce Headwear has an excellent assortment of colors that will appeal to just about anyone, but the Purple Pinwheel totally nailed my personality. Within 4 days of winning the gear review, my headband arrived in the mail. How cute is this??
The thing I really liked about this particular style of headband is that it's a little wider than your usual headband. Sauce has 2 styles - the Swift, which is a narrower design and the Ventilator, which is wider for more coverage. Personally, I prefer the Ventilator and that's the one I received.
Now, this isn't a full fledged review - not just yet. This is a Pre-view if you will. Why? Well, probably because I couldn't wait to try it out, but also because we had an outdoor excursion planned for after dark that very night and it was suposed to be in the 40's with 25 mph winds. That was all I needed to hear. The headband went right into my jacket pocket and as soon as we got to the woods, it went on my head.
I'll tell you one thing - the Sauce headband is extremely lightweight. It also stayed in place. I wasn't constantly pulling at it or shoving it around on my head. It blocked the wind from my ears. Like I said before, I have short hair, but it did keep my hair in place. The weather wasn't really cold enough yet to say "Hey, it kept my head totally warm," but I was glad I got a chance to at least try it out and I'm happy with the results so far.
All early indications point to this being a winning product! I am really looking forward to testing this out some more. Since we won't be getting cold weather for another 4-6 weeks, it may be awhile before the official gear review goes up. But rest assured, I'll be wearing it quite a bit whether it's cold or not.
In the meantime, you might want to go check out the Sauce Headwear website. Not only do they have the headbands, they also have hats, in all kinds of colors and designs, for women, as well as for men.
You may want to consider one of their items as a gift for the outdoor lover in your life. And while you're at it, go LIKE their Facebook page as well. Oh, one more thing - they do custom orders with team and event logos. I like a company that has good customer service and they sure seem to have plenty of that.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my gear Pre-view. I'll be back with the official review in a couple of weeks.
And on a separate note - The Outdoor Blogger Network is celebrating their 1 year anniversary with a huge extravaganza. Congrats to them on this milestone and best wishes for many more! Go over to their website and check out all the great outdoor bloggers who are hooked up with them.
I really like the one you chose!

Hey, what's the sunblock rating on that thing/ :D
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable - good choice.
Della: I love the one I chose and they have a matching hat!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle - aren't you sweet.
Kaybe: That would be nice on the beach while we were looking for sharks teeth - it would keep our hair out of our eyes. I think I could rock that with my bikini!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the shout out about the celebration going on this week.
And maybe your winning luck will continue because, I have to say, I LOVE that Sauce headband on you and I'm glad you won one.
Sauce was a great company to work with and now I'm extra delighted that they got the headbands out so quickly. Great product, great service. I'll give them an OBN stamp of approval =)
