The Crappie are Running
Springtime at the lake means that the crappie are running and so far this has been a pretty good season. We've caught a bunch....
And you know what a basket of fresh crappie means, don't you? Fish fry!!
With fried potatoes, macaroni and cheese and baked beans. It doesn't get much better than that!

The Crappie are Calling
Spring is in the air, the daffodils and lilacs are blooming at the lake and that means one thing - the crappie are biting!!
Chablis had good intentions and started fishing, but then decided to lay back and enjoy the sun...
Louie and I however, continued to catch the fish. Notice that nice big fish basket? That's the one Chablis and I found a couple weeks ago on one of our excursions around the lake. I told you we'd be using that treasure!
I smell a fish fry coming up soon.

PapaNonny Hit 1400!
Sunday was a gorgeous day, so we went geocaching and my mom and dad hit a milestone - 1400 caches! Way to go!!
We cached for about 4 hours and visited the woods, some parks and a couple of industrial centers.
I like when we find unusual containers like these 2 different versions of a fly....
Sundays are a good time to hit up the industrial centers, because there usually isn't anyone around except for a few quacking ducks. Notice we have no snow anymore and the lakes are completely thawed...
We walked along a nice bike path to get to this cache in the woods.....
Here we have 3 generations of our family out geocaching together!
We even found a deer skull in the woods. I wish I would have taken it home. It would have made a cool geocache container.
This cache was cleverly hidden in the brick retaining wall...
We had one DNF. It was supposed to be in one of these pine trees, but if it's there, we totally missed it.
We still had a good morning that resulted in 16 geocaches and the milestone for my parents.
Later yesterday evening my nephew stopped by with some freshly caught crappie for us. Looks like the fishing is going to start early this year!
