We picked a nice 3 mile walk and grabbed about 14 geocaches for the morning. I was surprised when Louie volunteered to do the tree climbing on this one....
We enjoyed climbing around on this old bridge near the river....
And then taking a water break near a cache.....
You can't see it but there's a cache hidden up here under the rocks...
I did the crawl and retrieval on this one. Do you see where my GPS is laying on the ground? Stupid move. Don't do that. That's how you end up walking away and leaving your GPS behind. Just saying....
My favorite cache of the day was this home made Stanley Cup cache, honoring the recent Stanley Cup win for the Chicago Black Hawks....
I'm not giving the cache number for this cache because I don't want to spoil the location for our area cachers. However, this is an excellent example of a cacher putting forth the effort to come up with a nice cache and fill it with great swag. It had all kinds of Blackhawk memorabilia in it like jacket pins, bags of confetti from the parade, vinyl window clings and stuff like that. Just a fun cache to find. We took a Black Hawks jacket pin for my son's girlfriend who is a huge Hawks fan and we left a dollar bill. It was the perfect cache to end the morning with and then we had a nice hike back to the car.
I'm looking forward to more caching in the woods. Join me over at Cache Crazy where I'm also posting today!
Another bounty of cache finds! People are going to have to step it up to stay ahead of you before you find them all!!
ReplyDeleteAnd we are way behind in our numbers for the year. :-( We've just been too busy to get out caching as much as I'd like.
DeleteAutumn is a great time to be outdoors. Congrats on your latest finds!
ReplyDeleteThanks - it just feels good to be out in the woods again.
DeleteI'm not familiar with caching but it looks like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteGeocaching is a lot of fun and takes us to a lot of cool places.
DeleteVery nice area to be caching in! Love the old stone bridge and the moss growing on the downed tree.
ReplyDeleteThe bridge and mossy trees was my favorite location of the day!
DeleteLooks like a beautiful place to cache. Love that bridge. xo Laura
