Refinished Desk and Chair Set

If you remember, Chablis and I have slowly been making our way through a huge pile of discarded furniture that we picked up all summer.  We've been refinishing everything under threat of my husband who wanted his garage space back.  I honestly don't know why he'd be bothered by a garage full of junk treasures that was piled so high he couldn't even get our lawn mower in there....  I showed you 2 cedar chests that we re-did a couple of weeks ago here.

Our latest refinishing project was a desk and matching chair.  She picked up both pieces for free.  I'm telling you, having a pick up truck and offering to take things off of peoples hands is a big advantage.  You can't beat a deal like that!

First up is the desk, which had an attached shelving unit.  You can see how scratched up and filthy dirty it was but it was sturdy and well built.  We immediately took the whole thing apart, sanded down the rough edges and some awful looking decals and gave it a good washing....

Chablis decided on a 2 tone color palette, topped by a thin layer of stain and a light distressing afterwards.   We did a final coat of furniture wax and this is how it turned out...

The chair that came with the set was originally in bad condition as well.  Pretty awful looking, huh?

Chablis echoed the taupe color of the desk for the chair paint, did a light stain and distressing and finished with a final waxing....

Here's the finished set together....

Another project out of the way and a few more feet of garage space for my hubby.  Everyone is happy!

    1. Thank you. Chablis is slowly trying to get furniture together for her own place, so we're adding to her collection.

  2. I love it! Chablis has an artist's eye, for sure. AND is a hard worker! I wish I had the vision and the energy, it's obviously a winning combination. :)

    1. She's a very hard worker and this is something she enjoys doing. I keep telling her to sell some of it but she falls in love with everything.

    1. That would be right up my alley but I don't think any producers are looking my way. :-)
