So, on to what we found this week.... Chablis got the bread board and the recipe box and I picked up the tool box carry -all....
Originally I was going to paint the tool box but once I cleaned off the layers of dirt and grime, I discovered the original owners name stenciled on the side - can you see it? EDDIE. I love it. I think I'll darken the letters with some fresh paint and leave it. Eddie - my tool box now officially has a name.
This is a small, 18" by 9" by 8" foot locker/chest. It's in bad shape. The interior has mold stains and the original liner paper has shredded away. I've already cleaned it up and it's sitting outside in my shed, opened, to air out for a few days. I'm not sure how I'll transform it yet, but I know it's going to be awesome. I can't wait to get started on it.
Chablis spied this wooden chair laying against a wall in a basement. It didn't have a price tag on it either. I kinda wanted to keep it for myself but I've got no room for it, sob.... Chablis told me to negotiate a price on it for her. The seat slat looks like its broken, but it's not. It's just a little loose and slid out of place. No problem, we'll fix it somehow. I got it for 3 bucks.

I sold one of these in my shop a couple of weeks ago, so I picked up this one and hope it sells as quickly.
Chablis got this small pail and 2 Christmas trays...
And she picked up these 2 cute Peach crates as well.
I seriously have a rolling pin fetish. This one is smaller than normal and needs to be cleaned, but it's super solid and heavy.
The 2 Chicago street guides are awesome, especially the smaller one, which is from 1944. It also has cool small articles in it about contacting syphilis, suffering from piles, and making sure to schedule doctor appointments. LOL! What that all has to do with a street guide is beyond me. The larger one has scribbled pencil marks inside but the cover is so cool. I may just frame them with a Chicago street map for a back ground and hang it on the wall or sell it.
I like this Osterizer single serve blender jar. It's unusual because it doesn't have a handle like most of the ones you usually see. The lid graphics are cool. I also loved the Squirt salt and pepper shakers. They need a good cleaning. I really have to pick up a brush for getting down inside jars. The graphics on these are great and they are in really good condition.
Chablis has been looking for glass mixing bowls for her mixer. She has stainless steel ones, but really wanted glass ones. These were perfect and only $ 3.00 for the pair. They even included a huge dead bug in the bottom of the larger bowl. She made me remove it....
This is a gorgeous red Christmas table cloth - I mean gorgeous!! It's large and rectangular and it doesn't have any holes or stains. I originally bought it to sell in my shop, but now I'm having second thoughts. I don't have a Christmas tablecloth for the lakehouse and this one is so nice. I may be keeping it....
Louie found this leather bound Atlas for $ 1.50. The thing is huge. It's super heavy and some of the pages are quite stained. I took it for the great maps inside that I can rip out and use in projects.
Oh, here's my favorite find of the week. This scale is awesome! It's a Pelouze Manufacturing 30 lb. scale. It's so lovely and vintage and chippy and rusty. I practically drooled when Chablis found it. And, it still works perfectly.
I wish I could find more information on this company. I know they were located in Chicago in the late 1800's and well into the 1900's and they produced both postal and family scales. This scale says "Patent Pending" on it. I've seen photo's of similar ones that are dated 1898, but I haven't seen a photo yet of this exact scale. I know I should sell it but everything about it screams "Keep me!" Look at that face - isn't it grand?
