I went out to the garage, found a piece of wood and roughed it up a bit with both ends of a hammer. I did this a couple of weeks ago on another project I did and I find that it's quite satisfying to beat the heck out of a piece of wood. LOL!
I slapped on a coat of Honey colored stain and quickly wiped it off with a rag....
Then I attached the pie tin and dipper with screws and that was it. I hung it up on the wall and as an after-thought I added two cup hooks so I can hang a towel and an apron from it....
Instant towel bar - What do you think? What have you made this week?

Cool Kim!! You are so creative! That dipper cleaned up nicely! I haven't made anything this week....but last week I remade a chair! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheri. I was thrilled that the dipper cleaned up so good too.
DeleteLike the vintage-y look. Way back in the 70s my mom made decoupaged plaques and had my sister and I beat up the wood with different tools. You're right-- it is fun.
ReplyDeleteDo you still have any of her plaques?
DeleteI do have one made from Holly Hobbie wrapping paper images.
DeleteYou're so cleaver. And inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dianne! xo
DeleteLOVE it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Moi!!
DeleteThat turned out really cool-- I like when something old is decorative and useful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Patricia - I love turning something old into something I can use and display.
DeleteVery cool! I didn't make anything this week but hope to find some time soon :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat, Kim!
ReplyDeleteSo, I just took a second, up-CLOSE look at the pie tin and had to smile. Have you ever eaten lutefisk? I'm unsure which one of my parents felt obligated to observe their heritage by attending lutefisk suppers each year -- and it's been 50+ years since I tasted it .....but I still grimace.
Ha - it's funny you should mention that. I was wondering what the writing on that meant because the only word I recognized was smorgasbord. What language is that?
DeleteI'm pretty sure it's Norwegian. Hope you're enjoying a great weekend!
DeleteWhat a delight. Thanks for the inspiration.
