Garage Sale Finds 8-25-14

This weekend was pretty bad as far as estate and garage sales go.  There weren't a lot of them for some reason and the ones we went to didn't have a whole lot of treasures.  But I did find these few things like an enamelware dipper and an old potato masher, both of which I've already re-purposed...

A 4 oz. glass baby nursing bottle.  I haven't seen one of these in years so I bought it because it was cute.  I also got this black pie tin with the nice graphic.  A word of advice......  really look at graphics before you attempt to clean them.  I thought it was part of the tin and I set it in the sink with soapy water to wash and discovered that the graphics were paper.  Crap!  I managed to salvage it, but really kind of ruined it.  I was still able to use it in a re-purposed project which I'll show you later this week...

I dug thru several boxes of patterns and was thrilled to find this apron pattern for my friend Dolly over at Hibiscus House blog.  I'll be sending that out to her this week.

And finally, a couple of wooden cutting boards that I've already sanded down and I'm working on.  More on that later too.

LOVE the pig!!!

So that wraps up this weekends finds.  Not a whole lot, but enough to give me a couple of things to work on this week.  What did you find?

  1. Maybe back to school halted some sales this past weekend. I went to three, and only got a few things. Will post later in the week. You found some goodies!

    1. I didn't even think about school starting back up and I bet you're right. Can't wait to see what you found too.

  2. You did well!! That pig is very similar to some of the crafts we used to make and sell.....ours were drilled in the top for crayons or pencils, and we painted them on the side with 'country' patterns!! Anxious to see what you have done with them all!

    1. Cheri - I've never seen the pigs drilled for crayons. That's a new one on me. Were they thin like a cutting board?

  3. Love your finds!! I had to give up thrifting and yard sales until I start selling - I literally don't have room to bring another item in! Do you sell anywhere or are your finds just for you? I've wondered about selling directly from my blog but no idea if others do that or if it would be a big fail!

    1. LOL- Thanks Diane! The shell post may be a few days yet. I clean out my shells by laying them in a mesh bag in the garden so the ants clean them out. I have to go check the progress and see if any of them still smell. Peep!!

  7. Looks like you are repurposing everything! I've been keeping an eye out for a masher to use and haven't had any luck yet.

    1. I got lucky to find that too - I had just seen something on Pinterest using one and I wanted to make it. The very first sale I went to I found that. How lucky was that?? Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment.
