It was a cold Chicago day, about 14 degrees, but it was toasty warm and sunny in the greenhouses....
Even Snoopy had a good time checking out the flowers....
Chablis took a bunch of pictures this time so I asked her to do a guest post for me highlighting her favorites ....
I had the best time taking pictures at the orchid
farm, the flowers were outrageously beautiful. I ended up taking 150+ photos!!
And trust me I could have taken a lot more but I tried to restrain myself
<LOL> I chose a select few to share will you all - hope you enjoy!
Chablis
I think this one looks like a mouth with 2 front teeth and a tongue.....
Here's to sunny days and warmer temperatures!
The color is so intense. Hard to believe they are real.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are gorgeous. They grow them all that way with those colors. They are stunning.
DeleteThe orchids are beautiful! I'm always tempted to buy one when I see them but they are so expensive and I'd probably kill it so I haven't bought one yet. Nice way to spend a cold afternoon!
ReplyDeleteChablis bought one. I waver back and forth cuz I don't have a good window to put one in.
DeleteThose are some gorgeous photos Chablis! Very vibrant! :o)
ReplyDeleteMust feel strange walking into a hothouse when it's so cold outside...
She got some good pictures. And the heat felt heavenly!
DeleteExcellent pictures. Where is a picture of the one you bought?
ReplyDeleteYes, she should have done that.
DeleteTell Chablis nice shots! What beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteShe will really appreciate that compliment coming from you. She just bought a new camera and has been practicing.
DeleteWhat beautiful orchids! I'm sure you enjoyed your nursery visit. We need to take a trip to one soon as spring is here.
ReplyDeletebe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I always forget how much I enjoy going there.
Delete...and putting the snow boots away!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Chablis!
Thanks Cathy - she is practicing her techniques and I think she's getting pretty good.
DeleteWow, look at the Orchids.. one of my
ReplyDeletefavorite flowers. I do have 6 on my
front oak tree and they all look like
they might just start to bloom soon.
They love the outdoors in my neck of
the woods...
Lovely photos and I would have loved
to go there!
Sandy
I'd love to see them blooming outside - I'd love if you took some pictures.
DeleteWhat a nice day to be inside a warm greenhouse. I have never tried to grow orchids but they are each one so elegant and exquisite. I love the last photo with the frond in front of the orchids. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy dad has a green thumb and they respond well to him. Chablis bought one so we'll see if we can nurture it.
DeleteChablis took some excellent photos!!!! Has she thought of a career in photography? Absolutely gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteI love orchids, but have killed every single one I have had :(
I think she'd love a career in photography. My dad is our orchid King!
DeleteSo lovely! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks you so much and thanks for coming by!
DeleteGreat photos Chablis!
ReplyDeleteThat is HIGH praise coming from you Brian and you just made Chablis' day! She said she can't wait to discuss photo techniques with you in May.
