I am playing along with Martha at Seaside Simplicity for Flashback Friday. On Fridays she's posting old photos - how much fun is that?
A lot of my old photos are centered around water. That's me sitting on the side of the pool in the blue stars and stripes bathing suit. Gotta dig that orange bathing cap! I was 10 years old.
Got any old photos you'd like to share? Come join in on the fun and link up your old photo.
Love that bathing cap! :)
ReplyDeleteI know - how wild is that?? Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWhat a great idea. I've got loads of "retro photos" around here - and a scanner.... (could be dangerous!) :)
ReplyDeleteCome on Linda - I want to see some photos!
DeleteI would love to join in but sadly a fire took our home in 1989 and every single picture that was in our vast photo album collection was destroyed! BUMMER! But I will be looking on as I love to see vintage photos.
ReplyDeleteOh Kevin, that is such a shame. I truly treasure all my old photos and home movies and I'm so thankful my dad was a photo hound.
DeleteThat's your mother in the pool, wearing the blue bathing cap. In those days, females had to wear bathing caps when they went into a pool
ReplyDeleteI always think of Norwood Park pool!
DeleteVery cute! But the idea of a bathing cap makes me shudder! I can't stand the things! :p
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look around and see if I have any old photos handy... ;o)
How cute! I remember having to wear bathing caps! Heaven forbid you should get your hair wet! heehee! I'm joining in today! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat I remember most about bathing caps is the sound under water. Why did we have to wear bathing caps in pools? Was it because they though our hair would clog the drains?
ReplyDeleteLove your photo :)
Hugs,
Laura
Yes, that's what I remember - they didn't want the hair in drains. :-)
DeleteAnd the ladies in the pool even have bathing caps.... always beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's my mom floating in the water with the blue bathing cap.
DeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI cracked up when I saw the bathing caps! I haven't thought of those things in years! I hated them, they always hurt and my hair got wet anyway. Why did they think we shouldn't get our hair wet back then? Thanks so much for playing along, loved seeing your old photo and hope to have you playing along on a regular basis :)
I remember them ripping my hair out when I pulled them on or off. I don't think it was so much of keeping our hair dry (which they didn't) but a matter of keeping hair out of the drains.
DeleteI'll be back to play again - it was fun!
Look forward to many more of your photos - it really is fun taking the walks down memory lane :)
DeleteOh, don't you miss those bathing caps? I had one I used for Girl Scout Camp. That's the only time I ever wore one, but I used it two weeks for swimming lessons in the lake there. Mine was white. You were lucky to have orange!
ReplyDeleteEach of the girls had a different color so we could spot them easily in the water
DeleteOh, the orange was such a 60's color. :-)
DeleteToo cute - I love old family snaps - especially from the seventies - they are almost retro cool! mine are at my mum's though.

Melissah from Coastal Style
Thanks Melissah - it's always fun just to pull them out and look at them!
DeleteWhat a cutie! Love the cap.
ReplyDeleteI'm noticing all the bathing caps! I always hated those things but they look really cute on the little girls there. I might have to join this party next week! I think I have some doozies of photos! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeletesandy ;)
Thanks Sandy - I remember my mom wearing a bathing cap with a big flower plastered on the side. LOL!
