Chemo Caps and Hat Racks

Somebody very close to me is battling breast cancer.  Ok, I can tell you with her permission - it's my mom.  Fortunately, it was caught in the early stages and the prognosis is good.  She is currently undergoing chemo, with radiation to follow, and in the process has lost her hair.  Even though I think she still looks beautiful, there are days when she just wants to cover up her head.  So I scoured the internet and found this website with some great ideas and a free pattern for making chemo caps.

I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and found some fantastic tee-shirt type material in a variety of colors and made these.  They are super soft and light weight....

Mom likes to pair her chemo cap with a cute scarf and a fancy pin.  Doesn't she look great?

Then Bee got some wood, cabinet knobs and small clothes pins.  She designed and painted this cute hanging hat/scarf rack for all the chemo caps and scarves....

If you know someone battling breast cancer, please give them your love and support.  Remember, monthly breast checks are important and go get your mammograms.

  1. Oh dear! I hope your loved one makes a full recovery and soon Kim! I'm lucky in that no one in my family has ever had breast cancer, and I hope it stays that way... we've got enough health problems as it is between the lot of us.

I must say, the sight of all those caps and scarves hanging is delightfully colorful!

    Big hugs!!!

We have a family member battling breast cancer as well, and has been through most of it during a pregnancy and delivery. Fortunately, the baby is doing fine :)
