Then we headed over to a trail and we were greeted by the most amazing scenery. It was pretty cold out and there was a layer of ice all over everything. The sun was shining and everything was glittering. It was gorgeous!
Plus we found the cache.....
Another stop was by an old train car. I'm surprised at how many train cars have caches hidden on them....
But my favorite cache of the day was one hidden on a gazebo. I'm not giving the cache number because I want to protect the location of the hide. Based on the cache description and knowing a little bit about this particular cache owners hide types, I figured the cache was going to be hard to reach. Before we left the house, I told Louie to grab our collapsible ladder and toss it in the back of the car. You know, just in case.
We pulled up to the gazebo and gave it a quick once over....
As suspected, the cache was hidden up high and there was no way we were going to reach it without the ladder....
Guess who got to do the climbing?
We quickly signed the log and I scrambled back up the ladder to replace the cache...
No sooner had I climbed back down and we had barely finished closing up the ladder, when a cop pulled up and sat and watched us. He must have figured that we looked harmless enough because he never said a word to us. We just tossed the ladder back in the trunk and took off. So much for covert operations.
It was a good morning and in 2 hours we managed to grab all 10 caches. I'll leave you with a few more of the ice photos because I think they look so cool.
You are frickin' nuts! No one carries a ladder to anything!! Funny about the cop...even funnier would have been if he would have talked to you. Ten caches in two hours! I bet there are only ten in this whole state (or at least my corner of it!!). Maybe someday I'll be fortunate to travel and go on one of these with you while I can still walk (not run or hike or climb...just walk! LOL).
ReplyDeleteMaybe while I have my ladder out I could come over and hook up your Direct TV for you! LOL!!
DeleteThose ice shots are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteTen caches seem like a lot to me, and in two hours?! I love the idea of you guys running around with a ladder though, fun! :D
Nice frosty photos! Yes, I love taking photos of the frost on the vegetation.
ReplyDeleteWay to be prepared:)
ReplyDeleteLove the icy photos - especially the thistles!
ReplyDeletexo Cathy
and if you ever need bail.......
LOL, you guys crack me up! When I first saw you guys pull out that ladder on a different post I thought, "ok, a planned ladder cache, I've done that". BUT, to just happen to have one handy, well, I'm not sure what to say other than, "you guys are truly cache crazy".
ReplyDeleteI love it!
Well, officer we were looking for this here geocache and we just happened to have a ladder and......tell it to the judge!
Those are cool photos...and those cool photos are making me cool. Brrrr.
ReplyDeleteI'm freezing to death now! I haven't seen frost that thick for ages. Looks like a fun morning, though!
