First we stopped and my dad treated us to a nice breakfast at The Machine Shed in Rockford, Il.. The Machine Shed is another one of those great mid-western restaurants. If you're ever there for lunch or dinner, be sure to try their chicken pot pie - to die for!! After fortifying ourselves with a good breakfast we headed across the border into Wisc.
All total for the day we did 18 different caches and we did a wide variety of them - several regular caches, a couple of multi-caches, a virtual cache, and an earthcache. I also dropped off 2 TB's and picked up 1 TB.
Mom and Dad were fast on their feet today. At this cache we had to record the time and temperature when we were there.

One of the Virtual caches we did was at this house. You had to look at all the unusual stuff in this front yard and email the answer to a question to the cache owner....
The next cache was a multi-cache at a cemetery. We had to find different old headstones and use information from them to determine the location of the cache.....
As we strolled around the cemetery we came upon the younger persons section. I have never seen such a beautiful variety of grave markers. I loved how they were decorated and arranged. Aren't they wonderfully done? I love this idea!
Come back tomorrow and see how we fared as we climbed Gibralter Rock and cavort with a Pink Elephant. I promise - no drinking was involved!

ReplyDeleteThe grave marker that looks like trees is very cool. Our cemetery used to allow graveside decorations, but doesn't anymore.

It was a fun day! Those tree grave markers are pretty common in this area for the older gravestones. I can't imagine the cost or how hard they were to make and move around over 100 years ago.
