The 1944 Chicago Street Guide

Do you remember when I found these 2 Chicago Street Guides last weekend at an estate sale?  I was just fascinated by the smaller one. It was put out by a Chicago Doctor - John L. Riley, M.D. - who was advertising his many available services at the time.  I wanted to share some of the pages with you because I thought it was so interesting.  Now remember this book was published in 1944 - OMG, that's over 70 years ago.   How cool is that??

The booklet is tiny - only about 5" by 2".

I think you'll have to click on the photos to enlarge them so you can read them a little better.

There's even a handy dandy calendar on the back page...

The latest Chicago Street Guide - pick one up today.  Wasn't that a hoot?

  4. Loved reading this! The emphasis on the x-ray exam is interesting - in the "olden" days, a doc was considered high-tech if he offered x-ray exams.
