We drove past a horse farm last week and saw the most adorable little baby horse. Is that technically called a pony? We just had to pull over to the side of the road and take some pictures.....
I loved how the baby followed so closely behind his mother, no matter where she went....
I wanted to pet that baby SO badly!
I think that baby horse is called a foal, or maybe a filly if it's female, although I'm sure no expert, lol. When I was a kid I was told that a pony is a whole different critter, not a horse, but a horse-like smaller version. Maybe one of your readers will teach both of us the true answer! :)
ReplyDeleteBoy do I feel stupid. LOL! I guess I never really thought about it.
DeleteAwww.....so cute!
ReplyDeleteThe above comment is correct. Baby horse under one year is a foal. Fillys are females 1-4 yrs, and colts are males 1-4 yrs. Ponies are small horses such as Shetland Ponies. My sister owned a horse years ago. That little one is awfully cute. I can hear him, saying: "Mother, mother..."
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane - I learned something new today!!
Deletewhoa! how cute!
