We took my mom and dad with us and headed out to Bolingbrook, Illinois for a morning of caching....
As you can see, we haven't been getting a lot of snow this year. This cache was a fake apple hidden in a pine tree, hence the cache name "Pineapple." How funny is that??
Mom and dad enjoyed being about to look for geocaches without trampling through the snow...
Montana Charlies is a famous area landmark and it's been there for years. I remember going there with my grandparents when I was a kid. It's not open this time of year, but I thought it was the perfect place to find my milestone geocache.......
Afterwards we went to White Fence Farm for a delicious chicken lunch.
The restaurant still had all of their Christmas decorations up. It was just beautiful with the lights twinkling and decorations every place you looked...
White Fence Farm is famous for their mouth watering chicken. One of the things I like about this place is the appetizers they bring to the table while you're waiting for your meal - fresh beets, cottage cheese, coleslaw, kidney bean salad and the best corn fritters in the world. They sprinkle them with powder sugar and they are soooo good!
Now I call that a great day!
What a great milestone and even greater adventure with family! Congratulations Kim!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dolly - we waited a long time to hit this one!
DeleteCongrats! Looks like great day! White Fence is very famous-- I've had their take out chx but have never been there myself. They were featured on "Check, Please" once.
ReplyDeleteYou have to go some day - it's just the best. The restaurant is HUGE!
DeleteYahoo! Congrats on reaching cache no 3000!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave - I have to run a little faster to catch up to you.
DeleteWhat a wonderful accomplishment! I'm so happy for you! And we love eating at places like this. Looks like you still need some fattenin' up! Take care! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteLOL - I'm working on it!!! xo
DeleteCongratulations on hitting your milestone, Kim! So good to see your Mom out there with you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you all had a wonderful day....and some good food, too!

Thanks debbie - our mild winter is making it easier to get out and about. xo
Delete3000 That's just amazing...I've given up, no fun by yourself!! I think it's neat that you've made this such a family affair, 4000 will be here before you know it!
ReplyDeleteCheri - when we meet on sanibel I'll take you geocaching. :-)
Delete3000 is amazing. I don't know much about it but assume there must be areas with several nearby caches that you can find in one day. ?
ReplyDeleteOh Yes, some areas have many within a mile radius so it's often easy to get many in a few hours.
DeleteThat is incredible! I haven't been since Fall. I'm not thrilled about fighting snow and cold plus no one in my family caught the bug like I did. I'd never get them out in winter with the grumbling I heard this summer. It's not as much fun alone, I'm afraid. I did one and the thrill wasn't there.I think we have some groups here. I should think about joining one.
ReplyDeleteI don't know when you'd have time Gayle. :-) I'll have to come visit and take you. Or, the next time Emily goes to Indianapolis, go with her and I'll meet you. That's only 3 hours away.
DeleteWow! 3000 and congratulations on this! You are a very determined little one, aren't you? :) Hope the new year is going well for you.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
