Does he look like he's on point to you?
Cache found and secured ma'am!
Petey bringing up the rear...
The next cache took us to a great cliff overlooking the lake. We tried to grab this cache last year but a family was camping right near ground zero. This year the coast was clear and we quickly made the grab...
This next cache was my favorite cache of the day - Night Rider Spring. I know, it was hard to top the fire tower cache, but I really liked this one because it was a nice hike through the woods to get to the cache location. Petey has really taken to his new role as geocaching dog and led the way....
Near the cache location was a hiker shelter. This is the first time we've come across one of these on the LBL, so it was fun to see it.
We checked the GPS which pointed that-a-way, and that meant up a steep incline. I silently cursed myself for not grabbing our hiking poles out of the car. Off we went....
Even Petey was determined to climb that hill....
We were rewarded with an easy to find ammo can...
Snoopy says "Hello there!!"
In all we grabbed 7 caches for the day. It felt so good to be out in the woods enjoying the springtime sunshine and warm temperatures. We were barely a mile down the road towards home and Petey the geocaching wonderdog was fast asleep.
Not only have you gotten the entire family into geocaching, now you've recruited the dog too! :) Petey is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda - it's good exercise for him and he needs to lose the weight.
DeleteThese deep woods caches requiring a good hike are the kind I like most. Beautiful pictures. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve - that's my favorite kind too. Plus any cache that requires a tree climb. LOL.
DeleteWhat a great post and Petey is my hero! That's a big day for a little bugger. Wonderful pics and good clean family fun! Can't beat it! AND, thanks for the blog plug, it really was one crazy cache with over 40 cachers. I don't know, I might trade it for a day like yours though:)
ReplyDeletePetey had a good time - we'll take him again.
DeleteLooks like everyone including Petey had a great time :)
ReplyDeleteWe did - it felt good to be outside!
DeleteGo Petey! And laughing because I was thinking if I even made it up that steep hill, I'd never make it back down!
ReplyDeleteIt might have been easier to just roll down. LOL
DeleteLouie clinging to the tree is exactly how I would look in that situation! Actually, I probably would have slipped and ended up tumbling down that hill. Petey seems more patient with geocaching than my dogs - they bark at me every time I stop to find a cache. Looks like a great trip!
ReplyDeletePetey is 11 years old, so he doesn't move real quick anymore. LOL. Thanks for coming by!
DeleteUp or down a steep hill? Repeat after me: "Trees are my friends!" ;o)
ReplyDeleteThey sure have helped me avoid many a fall, and have helped pull me up a particuarly steep stretch! :p
Looks like a FUN day for all! I bet Petey slept like a log afterwards though! ;o)
Petey slept all the way home and then another 2 hours once we got home. We wiped him out.
DeleteLooks like an awesome day outdoors in the fresh air!
ReplyDeleteLove Petey the wonder dog!
come see my latest surprise!
big smiles.. i promise!
hugs,,Loui♥
We'll be taking Petey more often! I'm jumping over to your blog now.....
DeleteYou could probably get some little saddlebags for Petey to help carry some gear (or at least a snack or 2)
ReplyDeleteROFL - Karen you always crack me up! I like the snack idea.
