If it's Friday, then it must be time for Flashback Friday over at Seaside Simplicity.
My flashback photo this week is of my great, great grandparents - Joachim and Augusta Rohwedder.
They bought their home in Joliet, Illinois in 1892 and it stayed in the family continuously until 1961. Their house is now on the Historic Register...
If you'd like to read more about this historic house and see some more pictures, please read my post about it here.
And don't forget to go join the fun at Seaside Simplicity.
How awesome. What a wonderful photo to have and treasure and history of your family, too. Happy Friday my friend!
ReplyDeleteYou have some awesome family history! I remember the previous post ;) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat, Kim.
ReplyDeleteOur farmhouse was built in 1848, and was on the historic home tour.
Sometimes people would show up unannounced...the girls and I would still be in our pj's! on a Saturday morning. We'd scramble to get the beds made, and the cereal bowls cleaned up. It was fun most times...some times...not so much.
Happy Friday, Sweetie!!
xxoo
How neat you have old photos of your great, great grandparents. A wonderful bit of history!
ReplyDeleteVery awesome to have a photo of your great grandparents! I think the oldest mine go back were early photos of my grandparents. Very cool that the house is now a historic landmark too! My grandparent's old farm house in Tennessee was probably close to that old and still stood until sometime in the 70's when my mother and her siblings sold the old farm. A Walmart now sits where the house once was :(
ReplyDeleteI remember when you wrote about that house! A fascinating story... and how wonderful you should have a photo of your great-great-grandparents! :o)
ReplyDeleteGosh, Kim ... I just got goosebumps reading this; imagining your touching parts of your ancestral home and walking the same steps as they walked before. I especially liked that early image of Gussie!
ReplyDeleteNeat post!
