We started off with the indoor exhibits, complete with all sorts of memorabilia including newspaper articles, guns, medals, uniforms, equipment, full blown photos, motorcycles, jeeps, tanks and planes.
My dad was thrilled to find a jacket that showcased his unit emblem and stripes. I wish he would have been able to try that on!
If this doesn't bring tears to your eyes, then I don't know what will....
Once we headed outdoors they had a section where you could actually climb on and inside some of the equipment. All of us had a great time doing that...
It was interesting to see the inside of the helicopters and tanks...
I had no idea some of these helicopters were so huge...

The Russell Military Museum gave me a new appreciation for our nations Armed Forces. We don't do enough to thank them for their service.
Russell Military Museum is conveniently located off of I-94 near the Illinois/Wisconsin border. Visit their website for hours and admission.
So glad you and your folks had such a fun adventure together! I've been to several museums and military museums, but never one where you could actually get into the vehicles! How interesting, and better still to have your dad there to share some memories. Men like him are the reason we have our freedom today. Hugs.

ReplyDeleteIt's so good to 'see' you, Kim! Oh, my hubby would go wild at that military museum. Like Louie, I'm not at all fond of aircraft but it would be great fun clamoring in and around them like y'all.
