Meeting Della

Last week I finally got the opportunity to meet a blogger girlfriend that I've been wanting to meet for the longest time!!!  Della from over at Del's Shells.

Della is the designer of the most beautiful shell jewelry and I am lucky enough to own several of her pieces, which I wear all the time.  Anyway, Della was travelling through Chicago and had a couple hour layover at the airport.  We decided we couldn't let this golden opportunity slip by, so we met at the airport where we sat and talked non-stop for an hour and a half.  I swear, 90 minutes have never gone by so quickly in my life.  In fact, we did so much yakking that we completely forgot to have someone snap a photo of the 2 of us together.  I could kick myself for that!

Della is just as sweet and nice in person as she is in bloggerland.  Do you ever meet somebody and just know you were destined to be friends?  That's how I feel about Della.  She is a peach!

And check out the beautiful necklace she gave me to add to my personal "Della Collection."

Della, I am so glad we got a chance to sit and visit.  I hope we can do a little shelling together the next time I'm in Florida.  xo

Julie's Little House Give Away

Two weeks ago I won a giveaway over at Julie's Little House.  Julie has a fun blog where she shares her passions for cooking, knitting, gardening and fixing up old furniture.  She also has another blog, Dinner at Julie's that you are going to want to visit.  She puts together some yummy looking meals with great photos.  I may just have to make a trip to Ontario with my fork and spoon and knock on her door in time for dinner!

Anyway, this is what I won...

The raspberry & cream shortbread cookies are really good.  I love raspberry anything and these are fantastic!

I was anxious to try the Lady Grey tea.  Practically all I drink is tea - iced tea, hot tea, tea that's been sitting on my stove for 2 days.  However, I usually only drink plain, Lipton tea, not flavored with anything.  I tend to shy away from flavored teas.  The Lady Grey is a delicate blend of black tea with bergamot, lemon peel and orange peel.  I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.  Looks like I'll be switching up my tea assortment a little.

I haven't decided what I'm going to use the pretty cup and saucer for yet.  I'm open to suggestions.

The final, and my personal favorite, was the silver tray.  It's the perfect size to sit on my dresser and display my shell jewelry pieces.   Some of you probably recognize the jewelry because it's all hand made by my good friend Della, over at Del's Shells.  Isn't the tray perfect for holding my jewelry?

Thank you Julie for a fun give away!  Be sure to stop by and say hi to her at Julie's Little House.

Barrettes from Dels Shells

The other day I received an unexpected package from my sweet friend Della, over at Del's Shells.  I am struggling to grow out my hair, but it grows so slowly and I get so frustrated with it.  So Della whipped up a couple of adorable barrettes for me to use.  Aren't they cute?  I can't pick a favorite because I like them all for different reasons.

So if you have beautiful hair, like my daughter or unruly hair like me, go buy some of Del's hair pins and barrettes.  Either way, they will look wonderful in your hair.  She is currently designing some beauties for wedding accessories.

Aren't these gorgeous?

Thanks Della.  I love ya girl!

Del's Shells - I'm a Winner!

Last week Della over at Del's Shells had a give away and I was one of the lucky winners!  Della was celebrating hitting 100 followers on her blog by giving away 2 of her gorgeous necklaces....

The shell she used is beautiful and really different.  It's called a heart cockle shell and it really does look like a heart.  The chain is a copper coated brass chain and she attached freshwater pearls and crystal beads.

When Della ships out her beautiful creations she takes great pride in her presentation.....

Della is working very hard to get items prepared for an extremely special event.  She was recently contacted by the UCF and has been invited to perform a seashell jewelry demonstration at an Agriculture event that is taking place in October of 2012.  People from all over the United States will get the unique opportunity to watch Della make her beautiful jewelry.  At the same time she can also sell her jewelry so she wants to have a good inventory of her one-of-a-kind items.  Each piece is hand made and slightly different.  I just know that she is going to be a huge success at the event.

Please stop by her blog and say hello and go over to her Etsy shop if you're looking for a gift for someone special in your life.

Thanks again for my beautiful necklace.  You know I'm your biggest fan!

Mothers Day is Just Around the Corner

Mother's Day is just around the corner and I know you don't want to wait until the last minute to pick out a special present for mom.  How about a beautiful piece of hand crafted jewelry by Del over at Dells Shells?  And the best part is that a lot of the pieces can be customized with colored beads to signify the special occasions in your life.

For example, Della created this beautiful keepsake for me.  She added a birth month bead for each of my children.  Isn't this pretty?  You can't really see it clearly, but there is also a small heart attached to the beads.

Or how about a Mother's Brooch?

Do you like something with a nautical theme?

Musical?

Something to keep your loved one from losing her way?

How about a hair pin?

Or a ring?

Maybe you'd like to give her your heart?

Something to decorate her ears?

Or her wrist?

Or how about one of these beauties to dangle from her neck?

No matter which one you choose, I promise you will love it.   Della wraps everything you order in gorgeous packaging.....

Any woman would love one of these hand crafted pieces.  It will be a gift she will treasure.  And don't forget, Del welcomes custom orders.  Feel free to email her through her blog.  Go check out her Etsy shop.   Place your orders now so you get them in time for Mother's Day.  And get this...  follow her blog and you will get a 20% discount off her Esty items by entering coupon code BLOG 20.

I just want to add that Della does do pieces with sterling silver as well, and she also can do pieces without shells if desired.  Shoot her off an email with what you're looking for, and she will try to accommodate you.

Pssssttttt........  Mothers Day is May 13th!

Thank You Della

Today when I got home there was a package laying on my kitchen counter.  I saw that the return address said "Della" and I immediately knew it was from my sweet friend Della over at Del's Shells.  I stopped and thought for a second, trying to remember if I had ordered something from her recently.  Then I tore open the package and had such an unexpected and pleasant surprise!

Inside was a beautiful handwritten note, a large sand dollar and a gorgeous necklace that Della created just for me!  My favorite shell is a Sharks Eye, so Della used a perfectly formed Sharks Eye and attached 2 colored beads, each one representing my children's birthstones.....

Isn't it divine?  Here's another shot, although I admit I look pretty bad in this photo, so just concentrate on the necklace.  I don't know how she did it, but the necklace is the perfect length too.....

Della has a real flare for decorating and I have to show you how she wraps her treasures.  The necklace came wrapped inside this cute little blue, gauze bag.  Everything was bubble wrapped and placed inside a white sleeve that she had hand stamped and then wrapped with the blue ribbon.  I have to tell you, it's a lovely presentation.

While I'm on the subject of Della, let me show you some of the new items she's created for her Etsy Shop in the past few weeks.  She's been one busy lady!

An Olive Bolo.....

Leather & Olive Bracelet.....

Scotch Bonnet Necklace......

Limpet Barrette

This leather, seashell & pearl cuff has a special history, and you should read about it here. Isn't it dreamy?  The leather looks so soft that I just want to touch it!

A barnacle & pearl ring set....

Della is so talented and I fall in love with practically everything she makes.  With Mothers Day just around the corner, you should go check out her Etsy Shop and order a treasure of the sea for the special woman in your life.

Della, thank you again for such a generous gift.  You gave from the heart and I will treasure it!
