Key to my Heart

Louie bought me a letter stamping kit for Christmas.  Does anyone out there do this?  I've been wanting to try it for the longest time and I was so excited to start.

Here's the first thing I've made so far....

I used one of the skeleton keys I got at an estate sale last summer and some twine that Chablis had in her craft box...

The stamping is quite fun and I wish I had more free time to mess around with it.  The hardest thing for me is getting the dark marker in the letters and wiping away the marker surrounding the letters while leaving it inside the letters.  Cripes, does that make any sense?

If anyone has any tips, please send them over.

  1. I've never done that so I don't have any tips, but it looks fun to try.

  3. Cool! I've never tried it. There must be info online about darkening the letters. Maybe paint or something that you wipe off, and it stays in the impression??? Great Val Day gift!

    1. They say to use black magic market, but I can't seem to get the hang of wiping it properly yet.

    1. Good idea Cheri - maybe I need to let it dry longer. Makes sense.

  7. This reminds me of the 'oatmeal' spoon you got Tony!

  8. Do you use an anvil? I have avoided this craft like the plague. In my weaker moments, I go online to see all the projects using the metal stamping kits. I do not trust myself to even walk down that aisle in Hobby Lobby. You tempt me, Kim!

    1. Yes, it's a small square one. Louie ordered everything from this company online: http://www.pjtooljewelry.com/ Their stuff is very nice quality. I can't wait to find some vintage spoons to attack with this. LOL.
