Estate Sale Finds 9-8-14

This weekend was a gorgeous weekend to be out hitting the sales.  The temperatures are dropping a bit, so it's cooler out and easier to maneuver around people and boxes when I'm not sweating my butt off.

I'm starting out with my find of the week and only because I was so excited about it.  This gorgeous pink vintage Therm-a-jug thermos.  It had a little rust on it, but the inside is spotless and the inner cup and cap are intact.  I snapped this up so quickly that I practically knocked Chablis out of my way.

It is so pretty - I love it.  And it's pink!  Pink!!  Wouldn't this look absolutely adorable in a beach house or a camper or just sitting on the shelf?

I cleaned it up the minute I got it home and it looks fabulous....

Can you tell I am just giddy over this find?   Honestly, I do not need it, but it's so darn cute.  Louie told me to just sell it but I don't know.  It's pink!  It's retro and in great condition.   I think I have a problem and need an intervention.  I buy all this stuff, say I'm going to sell it and then I keep it.  My intentions are good - does that count?  What is wrong with me??  Ugh....  Ok, after much deliberation I have decided to list it.  If you want this pink pixie for your very own, then visit my Etsy shop.

Chablis picked up these 2 tins - not vintage but cute and in great shape so she's adding them to her tin collection.  The Anacin tin is vintage with just the right amount of rust and chippiness and the lid still works....

One can never have too many vintage coffee cans, right??

I was out in a garage and found this stuffed behind some really gross boxes.  It was filled with a bunch of crap so I dumped everything into one of the boxes and just took this.  It's quite rusted but I love the graphics.  I want to repurpose it into something, but I don't know what yet....

Don't you love the colors?  What would you do with it?

Another vintage apron for my collection.  I'm telling you, it pays to be snoopy.  I was in the bedroom at an estate sale and the dresser had stuff all over it for sale.  I got nosey and started opening the drawers and looking through the stuff in there.  Chablis was poking me and telling me to knock it off.  But you never know what you may find, right?  Besides, snooping through drawers is fun!  I found this apron in the middle drawer, still folded up.  It had never been used - all the creases were still in it.   I offered a dollar for it and they gladly took it.

I found these towels in the same garage as the aforementioned tool box.  They were stuffed into a baggy and never used.  If you look closely, the stamped imprint on the right one says "Corning 1977."  Help me out here - does that mean they are Corning ware towels made in 1977?  I know nothing about towels, so any help here is appreciated.  I washed them up and they are gorgeous.  These would look so cute in a camper too.

Finally, 2 vintage Ball jars with tin lids.  They were in a kitchen cabinet - again I was snooping thru drawers - and they were filled with something white.  My guess was baking soda.  No price tags on them either.  I took them up to the seller and asked him how much he wanted for the jars filled with cocaine.  He thought that was hysterical, we had a good laugh and I got a good price.  It pays to be friendly!  I've decided to keep one for myself and let one go, so if you want a blue Ball Mason jar/cocaine container of your very own, visit my shop here.

What did you find this week?

    1. It's new - my husband threatened me - he said I can't buy any more stuff at estate sales until I start selling some things. I think I may be a hoarder. LOL.

  11. I absolutely cannot believe that you were able to part with that pink beauty! I have that same Therm-O-Jug and I found the pink Coleman one last weekend. I will never let them go :-)

As for digging through drawers at estate sales....unless they are marked "do not open", they are fair game!

    1. Great point about the "Do not open" signs.

And yeah, it's been tearing at my heart to let that thermos go, but I am quickly running out of room and need to sell some stuff. :-(

  14. Those towels must have been promotional items from Corning-it has the same pattern as some of their dishes.
