Happy Veterans Day 2012

The other day we were in Henderson, Kentucky and looking for a geocache outside of Audubon State Park.      As I was tramping through a wooded area towards the cache, I came across this headstone....

It was all by itself, out in the middle of nowhere.  It made me wonder how many people know that it's there. When was the last time anyone visited this grave?  Thanks to my mom, the family historian who knows how to find cool information, you can go here and read all about him.

And so, Thomas Smith, Sr. I salute you on this Veteran's Day.  Please take the time to thank a veteran for their service to our country.  We are forever in your debt.

  1. I think it's very fitting and timely for you to run across that tombstone. Just surreal. Wow!

A BIG thank you to Thomas Smith, Sr and all of the men and women who have served our country.

  2. That is an odd place for a tombstone! Perhaps at one time it was on someone's property? A family plot? But then it's odd there's just the one tombstone...
