1800 Finds!

Yesterday we found our 1800th geocache and mom & dad found their 1300th.

We headed over to Busse Woods with the goal of 8 geocaches in mind.  But when we got to the forest preserve, the entrance we wanted to use was locked for the winter.  So we drove around to another entrance, which was going to result in a much longer hike to where we wanted to go.

Fortunately we were able to use the paved bike path for most of the extra 1.5 mile walk.  While we were walking, Louie remembered where a geocache was hidden that we had already done, but mom and dad hadn't, so we made a little detour off the path and into the woods for them to find that one.

It was really a perfect day to be out.  As you can see, we still haven't gotten any snow.  We finally reached the parking lot that we had originally wanted to drive to, veered off into the woods again, and we soon had our 1800th cache in hand.  GC1QH16

We headed back out to the road, walked down another block and then cut into the woods again, where mom and dad made their 1300th find!   GC2Z4G9

Since the parking situation had resulted in more walking and taking more time than we had planned for, we decided to call it quits and headed back out.  It turned out to be almost a 4 mile round trip hike.  We stopped on the way home and made 2 more easy grabs and then called it a day.

  1. Congratulations on the milestones! Those are a lot of caches!

I hope you guys get some snow soon! It's unseasonably warm here too (not that we're ever expecting snow, every couple of years there are some flurries in the mountains, nothing on the coast)

What? No snow? All of ours melted but I have a feeling that more is on the way. I hope not cause I am, enjoying the mild winter. :)

  7. Besides the "thrill of the hunt" your geocaching really gets your out exercising! I googled about it in our area awhile back. It doesn't seem to have the popularity as it does down in the States. Maybe it is all the cold, moose and bears! LOL
